The Washburn varsity tennis team is off and running into this 2017 season. With a record of 4-5 they currently own as many losses as last year (17-5) but the future looks to be bright. “We have a much tougher schedule this season and have played elite competition so far” coach Ryan Hoag, who returns for his ninth season as head coach explains. Highlights of the season thus far were big victories over conference rival Minneapolis Southwest and Elk River. Four seniors and six juniors lead the way. The team looks to continue to improve these next few weeks and attempt to become the first ever Minneapolis public school to win six consecutive outright conference championships.
